On Friday evening the Miami Heat's Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, and Mario Chalmers participated in Miami Critical Mass. They joined an estimated 2,000 local cyclists on a 20 mile ride through Omni, Edgewater, Upper East Side, North Bay Village, Miami Beach, Venetian Islands, and Downtown Miami. This marked the second time D-Wade came out to the community ride which is held on the last Friday of every month. Tonight the Heat beat the Brooklyn Nets 102-89, during the post-game interview Wade mentioned the 20 mile bicycle ride and gave a shout out to Miami Critical Mass. He scored a season high 34 points and the Heat remain atop the Eastern Conference and perfect at home. Keep up the great work and thanks for helping create awareness towards the benefits of cycling!
Unfortunately for cyclists in Miami, things are far from perfect at home. Motorists are typically unaware of cyclist's rights and/or show an appalling lack of respect towards us which is primarily why these community rides are essential. Here's to better things in the future and safe streets for everyone.
