Seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong and Nike are bringing STAGES (a global art exhibition which raises funds and awareness for the fight against cancer) to Miami for Art Basel December 3 - 6, 2009. The lists of artists include Geoff McFetridge, Cai Guo-Qiang, Kaws, Futura, Kenny Scharf, Tom Sachs, José Parlá, Shepard Fairey, Os Gemeos and more.
Don't be surprised if you spot Lance Armstrong leading a Livestrong group ride through the streets of Miami in December. More details to come.

Great news about the exhibition. And as much as I'm not into speed bicycling, I'd love to meet and ride with Lance Armstrong!
ReplyDeleteMiami is my hometown. Road Cycling is my hobby. Lance Armstrong is someone I look up to. Needless to say I'm in for any Lance & Livestrong activities in the Miami area in December!
ReplyDeleteHey that is a great idea... I would love to ride.. I only have a mt bike, is that ok. If yes you can count me in!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWoop!
ReplyDeletehave a great ride.. i was born and bred in MIA, then lived in DC for 20 years. That's where I fell in love witht he bike. After MANY long-distance charity events, I began racing. When I left DC 2 years ago, I considered moving back to my hometown, MIA, and lived there again for almost a year... but could not stay. It was live there and be miserable because of the lack of places to really ride, or leave again. i could go back and forth in Key Biscayne riding 5 inches form cars so many times.. and i could be insulted only so many times by the "macho" guys who can't stand it when a girl passes them.... after all, they did spend 5k on their bikes when theey did not even know how to hold their line yet... how dare they... generally, MIA road riders need a good lesson in true sportsmanship and MIA needs some REAL bike lanes.. not the feeble efforts of certain well-intentioned "green" groups.. I LOVE MIA,my peeps are all there, but it was MIA or peace on the bike; a happy life of riding...
ReplyDeleteI hope Lance's presence inspires these "macho" guys to get a clue about what true athleticism is and what other cycling communities know... and the city government to create w i d e r and longer spaces for riding..
MIA, i hope u take this critique well... iv'e heard the same thing form many cyclists there...
Wish I were there to ride with Lance!!!!
This would be great for the city of Miami, there is a lot of Road Cyclists in the South Florida area that would love to meet him.
ReplyDeleteCant wait for the Lance Lvestrong ride. Good to hear you are an art fan as well. See you soon
ReplyDeleteWonderful. Bike Basel was a damn fun ride, let's do another one :)

ReplyDeleteWoW! A secret dream of mine is to meet and/or ride with Lance Armstrong. I am so there.
ReplyDeleteI flipped out when I saw the tweet about Miami. The next was to my boss getting time off for the ride. Miami is great in winter.
