Uphill Battle Series 2.0
Sunday, January 3rd 2010
2pm
Key Biscayne / Virginia Key
These will be 1-on-1 sprint races on the Rickenbacker Causeway to the top of the William Powell Bridge
Meet by the entrance of the old bridge parallel to the big bridge.
It doesn't matter how fast you descend, it's all about who reaches the top first. You will be judged on climbing skills hence the red polka dot jersey theme.
Participants will receive one red dot per win. The one with the most dots at the end of the series is the overall winner.
All bikes welcomed.
Do I go fixx or roadie?
ReplyDeleteeither or.. fixed preferred by some, I personally don't mind road bikes
ReplyDeleteI know this is out of my league, being on a MTB and never on a race... But just out of curiosity, how fast is the average racer on this particular climb?

I'm guessing low to mid 20s. I don't have a computer on my bike, so I have no idea how slow/fast I'm going. I know based off other riders computers you can easily hit 40 going down but we're not doing that. Also, the wind can really help/hurt depending on it's direction.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the quick response, Rydel. I meant time-wise... I did this climb 4 times this past Saturday. I hit mid-20s going up and 45 down, on the way in. Much slower on the return trips due to winds.
