901 South Miami Avenue

"Bike Miami Days is a City of Miami initiative to promote a healthy, active community based on livable streets and the growing urban neighborhood that is DWNTWN. It's free, family-friendly, and a lot of fun. Bike Miami Days is an open street event for walking, cycling, skating, and enjoying your DWNTWN."

Bike Miami Days was originally slated to return this past October 10th but due to insufficient funds and lack of sponsors it was postponed until November 14th. It's been a little over a year now since a Bike Miami Days event has taken place in downtown, October 2009 to be exact (Mayor Diaz was still in office). If you enjoy these free community events come out and show your support on Sunday, Nov 14th. Start by inviting your friends and family, help spread the word because if you don't there's no telling when the next Bike Miami Days will be.

[NEW ROUTE]

South Miami Avenue will be closed from 9th Street to 15th Rd. This small stretch of road will be the only official street closures. However, you are encouraged to visit Simpson Park (SW 17th Rd) and ride to Alice Wainwright Park (SW 32nd Rd). The recommended route(s) are illustrated on the map, use either the bike lane on S. Miami Avenue or the M-Path Greenway which is adjacent to SW 1st Avenue. Volunteers will be present throughout the route. Bicycle valet will be provided throughout the closed corridor.

For those feeling more adventurous you could always venture out to Key Biscayne via Rickenbacker Causeway. I highly recommend checking out the Old Zoo in Crandon Park which is now a bird sanctuary, great place to ride your bicycle. FREE

Free bike rentals courtesy of DecoBike and BuddyBike will be available at Mary Brickell Village.
