A few Florida International University students and volunteers are opening a bicycle repair service at the Modesto A. Maidique Campus to help promote cycling as a legitimate and green mode of transportation and to make FIU more bike-friendly.
Location: Farmer's Market (between the Green Library [GL] and the Central Fountain)
Hours: Wednesdays, 11am to 3pm
Opening date: February 9th, 2011
The repair shop is FREE for FIU students/faculty, and available to everyone else at a discounted price. Services provided will include flat repair, tune-ups, (derailleur, brake, seat, and handlebar) adjustments, air, lube, and wheel truing. Special pricing on helmets and eyewear/goggles from Rudy Project is also available.

ReplyDeleteThe location is actually at the farmer's market. The panther garage location comes later.
ReplyDeleteThis is great news! I tried starting a bike repair service about a year ago at FIU but never followed through with it. I shoot web videos and documentaries for FIU now and I plan on shooting an FIU news video about this project in couple of weeks. I would love to be out there tomorrow but I am already filming two other events. Eeh what the hell, I'll try to make it out anyway.
ReplyDeleteneed a bike mechanic?
