Good news for cyclists who ride the Rickenbacker Causeway, a very popular route for recreational bicyclists. The Miami-Dade County Public Works and Waste Management Department installed its first green bike lane. The brightly colored lanes are intended to give better visibility to bicyclists and are made of slip-resistant material so that cyclists don't skid when wet.
The first green bike lane was installed at the entrance/exit of MAST Academy, a high conflict zone between cyclists and motorists. PWWM plans on installing several more green bike lanes on the north side of the Rickenbacker Causeway.
I am not in Miami at the moment but would like to know the current configuration of the Bear Cut bridge. Are their bike lanes both directions, or just the side path?
