An underused area of green space will soon become a safe and beautiful space for neighbors to enjoy. To mark this occasion, a groundbreaking ceremony was held on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, with Miami-Dade County Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz, District 12 and representatives from Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department.
The future trail will run parallel to 136th Court between SW 6th St and NW 12th Street in West Miami-Dade.
“I’m very thankful to our Parks Department and FPL for working with us to provide my community with a beautiful linear park and trail that will provide a great place for residents to enjoy the outdoors and stay fit.” said Commissioner Diaz, who represents the area.
“Open, green spaces are very important to the health of people and communities, by repurposing an underutilized plot of land and creating a place with trees, fencing and lights, residents will be inspired to get outside while benefiting from the beautification aspects of the project,” Miami-Dade Parks Director Maria I. Nardi shared.
