The Southern Most HIV/AIDS Ride aka SMART Ride started in 2003 with a vision of giving back 100% of every dollar its participants raise to AIDS Service Organizations throughout Florida. We also promised that participants would have a degree of control over the distribution of the funds they raised to the benefiting agencies. Since 2003 over $12.4 Million has been raised and 100% of it returned to help those infected, affected or at risk for HIV and AIDS in Florida.
SMART Ride is now the 2nd largest AIDS bicycle ride in the country, and the only one of its size to give back 100%.
Our participants come from across the State of Florida, nationally, as far as Hawaii to as close as our neighboring state of Georgia, not to mention Internationally. We attract between 400-500 participants with each event, but we touch thousands more on the road as we travel between cities and towns, and with each donation that is made. Last year, close to 10,000 people donated to our efforts – that’s quite an impact! Riders and crew range in age from 18 to 73.
Our sponsors are Independent/Family-Owned Businesses, Regional and National Companies. Thanks to them, we are able to produce a safe event and donate 100% of the pledges raised back to the community.
SMART Ride is a fully-supported ride which includes sweep and SAG vehicles. Pit stops located every 13-17 miles to restock on snacks and rehydrate. We provide overnight housing for the participants, all meals, a medical team, massage team, bike parking team, etc. all with the your safety in mind.
Mission
TSR Adventures, Inc. is committed through the combination of individual contributions and public/private partnerships to creating, producing and/or overseeing community-based events in which 100% of what the participant raises is returned to benefiting non-profit organizations. In so doing, we act as an avenue for change in the non-profit fundraising community.
Vision
Through the events we produce, we will assemble and sustain a group of thoughtful, committed citizens to build relationships and raise funds to positively affect the lives of people, whom the citizens may have never met, and in so doing challenge themselves to stretch the limits of what they thought they could do as an individual.
Values
Transparency: Ensure through open accounting practices that we remain accountable to the community for the monies entrusted to us.
Stewardship: Ensure that the funds raised by participants are treated as a gift from the community by the benefiting agencies and are used by them for direct services to the individuals which they serve.
Empowerment: We invest in the power of human potential by producing events which are personally challenging and rewarding and through attainment of individual goals people are able to benefit the community as a whole.
Collaboration: Work with individuals, benefiting agencies and corporations to build relationships which maximize resources and provide an environment where these relationships result in community changing endeavors which any entity individually could not have created.
