"We are pleased to present BikeSafe @ The Underline, The Underline’s Bike Rodeo Workshop event series led by The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, KiDZ Neuroscience Center, and supported by the Honda USA Foundation! The bike rodeos will teach kids bicycle handling and safety skills. This FREE activation will be located at the Hammock Playground Plaza, Sponsored by Publix Supermarket Charities, located across the street from 1523 SW 1st Ave."
Bike rodeos are bring your own bike and helmet events. We present bicycle “driving” courses, in a safe and protected environment, designed to simulate actual roadway situations commonly encountered by bicyclists. A bike rodeo is an effective way to involve parents, teachers and civic and community groups in helping young children learn how to ride safely. They also provide a social and interactive way to reinforce safe bicycling skills. Such skills emphasized and practiced in a bicycle rodeo often include: starting and stopping, using hand signals, scanning for traffic without weaving, making turns, safe maneuvering, entering a roadway safely, avoiding hazards, and balancing.
The event schedule for the program is as follows:
