The Hobie Island North Beach Roadway and Shoreline Protection Project is finally complete! The waterfront along the Rickenbacker Causeway area had been closed to the public since Hurricane Irma in 2017.

We took a ride on the path to check it out firsthand and liked the improvements we saw. The protected pedestrian and bike lanes, native trees and plants, and new parking area were a big upgrade to the previous beach area which was covered with invasive Australian pine trees.

We encourage you to come experience the renovations for yourself today! Enjoy a leisurely ride or stroll on the multi-use path, have a picnic along the beautifully restored shoreline, and take in a picturesque view of the Miami skyline.

Key Project Features Include:
  • New protected pedestrian and bicycle path connecting Hobie North and South beaches via the underpass of the William Powell Bridge
  • Safer and more efficient parking, recreation areas, and beach access points.
  • Advanced shoreline reinforcement to combat erosion and rising sea levels.
  • New stormwater management systems to protect water quality and ecosystems.
